Titanic fight against the Sharks

Rylands U10's 4 pts Thatto Heath Crusaders 0 pts
For second time this season it was another evenly matched contest against Rylands with the home team gaining revenge by scoring the games solitary try just before half time.
It was a highly absorbing game with many close try scoring moments and none more so than Paddy’s scintillating touchline scoot at the end. Paddy just fell short as he sidestep and weaved his way to the line. As well as other scoots and playing the full game as hooker and throwing some great passes from acting half Paddy takes the most improved player award for the week.
However what was more pleasing today was that as a result of half dozen absences (get well soon Kyle) we were forced to try players in new positions and they came up trumps. It is a policy we will continue to use as we endeavour to make the squad even more competitive for next season.
So well done Sean , Matt H and Jordan for playing very well in new positions and giving your all for the cause of the team.
The line defence was much improved this week and the ever reliable (unlike Pete’s car) you know who topped the tackle count. Well done Reece, who also showed guts to carry on playing after taking a very questionable challenge from a leading elbow to the throat.
Parents MOM this week was a clear winner with our homing missile on the wing Robbie taking the award for his super hits in defence. Robbie’s tackling was text book by going low and knocking back his much bigger opponents.
Mike and Ben often don’t get the plaudits they deserve but the coaches recognise their invaluable worth to the team with Mike just shading Ben this week to take the Coaches award.
Honourable mentions go to Luke the Tank as he pounded up field all day despite receiving a nasty blow to the face early on. Adam continues to improve and assisted well in some of our set plays from the ruck.
Declan was another who took a nasty knock this time to the knee as he put his body on the line. This led him to being carried off in considerable pain but thankfully he was able to walk and force a smile after the match.
Josh showed us his usual strong evasive running and this caught the opponents coach eye to earn opponents nominated MOM.
That’s all the awards sorted out for this week……. It s the like the Oscars at the end of our match ……….can someone organise a red carpet for next week.
Finally great team display and you have made all the coaches happy and more comfortable as to how we are developing. Keep up the good work by listening and working hard in training as well as on match day.
